For about a month I have been drinking water…. I have Xed out the Sodas. I will drink an occasional glass of ice tea every now and then. I am hoping that I can get rid of some of this weight by doing this. My husband has jumped on the bandwagon with me. Which is surprising within itself, because for as long as I have know him he has been a dedicated and loyal to dr. pepper. I am glad. We preach to our kids on how sodas are bad for us. But we kept on drinking them. So we decided that it was time to practice what we preached. I am proud of him, I think he has been without a dr. pepper for a least 3 weeks that I know of.
So I did a little research on the dangers of drinking sodas.
1. Sugar is one of the leading causes of obesity. There is more sugar in a can of soda than a cookie alone.
2. You become caffeine dependent. Caffeine is addictive. Your body starts craving the boost you get from caffeine. If your body doesn’t get that boost then you become irritable, tired, and even depressed.
3. The phosphoric acid, this gives soda that extra bite, causes bone loss.
4. They have found traces of MSG, a neurotoxin, in citric acid that some sodas have in it.
5. The water found in a can of soda has had carbon dioxide injected into it, which gives you carbonated water. This water may contain fluoride and other contaminants.
After knowing some of these things, Our family is saying NO to sodas.
